FamilySearch.org, the mother lode of resources maintained by the Family History Department of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This site offers access to the LDS Church's collection of over three billion digitized records, half a million digital books, and a family tree with over a billion user-contributed records. Use of the archive requires registration (at no cost). Ancestry.com, a privately-owned genealogical resource with over three million subscribers and twenty billion records. Access to the site requires a paid membership (a two-week free trial is also available).

 

Geneanet.org, a Paris-based collaboration of searchable genealogical data. Its approximately four million members have contributed about six billion records, with a concentration of records for France and neighboring areas. 

 

Luxroots.com, a Luxembourg-based genealogical association whose 1300 members seek to create a database of historical records from Luxembourg, including many resources from southern Belgium. 

 Zwischen Venn und Schneifel, a local history museum and archive in St. Vith, Belgium, which focuses on the German-speaking area of southern Belgium. Its director, K. D. Klauser (photo on right) has provided a number of resources for this site.
